CricketForce update

20 March 2009

ECB Natwest CricketForce 3rd, 4th 5th April - it's almost here!

Not long now... 15 days to go!

The committee had a successful meeting with Dave Leighton from the ECB on Tuesday and we can confirm that former England Captain Mike Gatting will be attending on Sunday 5th April to lend a hand with our planned projects.

The ECB are still on the lookout for a current England player to join us on the 5th April, so fingers crossed!

And for the juniors...

The NatWest Roadshow will be attending on Sunday 5th April.  We will also have coaches available to teach the kids cricket skills, and have some fun kwik cricket games. NatWest will also be sending a film crew and will be using the footage for the NatWest series!  So, if you are a parent of a junior player and they would like to be involved, please email or call Linda Norton.  There will be limited places so book your kids a place now! If an England player is available they will have the chance to play some cricket with them too.

To give you a flavour of what will be happening over the course of the weekend our projects will be as follows:

  • Erect new electronic scoreboard and score hut - and paint the score hut
  • Lay new decking area for marquee
  • Fencing - along the main avenue, the top field and in between the two fields
  • Sightscreens need cleaning and repainting
  • Painting the new shed
  • New barbeque
  • Garden makeover
  • Cladding groundsmen's container - and painting it!
  • New changing room access to main field
  • Net area development
  • New guttering for Hackers field covers
  • Refurbishment of Hackers Field sightscreens

We also have plenty of weeding and general tidying to do... so there is plenty for everyone!

We still need a DJ for the weekend... If you can spend a few hours to play some music and man the PA system let us know.  We also need people to help with the catering.

Thank you to all of you who have contacted the committee and offered your support for CricketForce weekend. But where are the rest of you? Your club needs you...

If you haven't signed up for a project, now is the time to get in contact with us.  You don't have to be a DIY guru to get involved in the weekend's events.

Please help us make the 3rd, 4th and 5th April a great success and a fantastic start to the new season.
