About The Club
History
Ipswich Cricket Club was founded in 2003 by the Amalgamation of two Cricket clubs, Browns CC and Tattingstone CC, both clubs having recently celebrated 50 Years in existence.
Browns CC had achieved considerable success in the 1970's winning the Two Counties Championship on a number of occasions, but had over the years moved its ground from Humber Doucy Lane to share facilities at Rushmere Sports Club. Whilst this proved an excellent home Browns only hired the ground and found this provided a major stumbling block to continued development.
Tattingstone CC developed into a successful village side, enjoying more recent success culminating in winning the Two Counties Championship in 2002. Tattingstone's wicket and outfield were considered to be one of the best in the league, however, the club were unable to develop changing and social facilities, and this again frustrated development.
With both Clubs facing similar difficulties an amalgamation to form Ipswich Cricket club was agreed by both sets of members when 10 acres of agricultural land became available at Clay Hall, Copdock. This ambitious project under the guidance of Kester Clarke (Tattingstone Groundsman) has been turned into two High Class cricket grounds and for the first time the 2007 season saw two games played on the same venue. April 2007 also saw the opening of the club's new pavilion which provides members with a comfortable and welcoming environment with excellent catering and bar facilities and a large outside deck area from which to relax and enjoy the cricket on offer.
Five years on, development continues apace and the investment within the infrastructure and playing environment whether for Adults, Juniors, Ladies or Seniors is relentless. The Club benefits from a healthy workforce of volunteers who are striving to provide the best facilities and environment for all to enjoy the Ipswich Cricket Club experience and continued investment and improvement is planned for many years to come.
